Adopt a Dog
PETS, Inc. always has a huge selection of adoptable dogs. We make every effort to assist adopters in selecting dogs and puppies well suited for their personalities and lifestyles. We will ask a great many questions, not so much to be nosey, but to be certain that we have not overlooked a potential problem when recommending a new companion animal.Download and fill out your adoption application. Once you have completed your application, please e-mail it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 803-791-1230 or bring it by our office!
We do place unaltered dogs and puppies but with some restrictions. A large deposit is required and a definite spay/neuter date will be set at the time of the adoption. The adopter will receive a veterinary authorization form that authorizes the veterinarian to bill PETS, Inc. for the surgery. The deposit is generally accepted in the form of a check or charge so that it can be held wiithout actually putting it through the bank. We will hold the deposit until the dog or puppy has been surgically altered. At that time, the deposit is voided and, if requested, mailed back to the adopter.
There is a risk involved in leaving this deposit. If the dog or puppy is lost or stolen before being altered, the deposit will be forfeited. We will use that money to spay or neuter another animal in its stead. This effectively prevents our policy from ever resulting in additional births.
With the exception of new arrivals, all dogs over 4 months old are spayed or neutered before being put up for adoption. They will have received two dewormers and all vaccines due.
Puppies will have been microchipped and will have received their first vaccines and deworming. Adopters may opt to purchase future care from our discount Cheap Shots and Spay/Neuter Clinic or obtain their puppy's follow-up care at a private clinic.
Spayed/Neutered Mixed-breed Teenagers & Adult dogs will have been been microchipped and will have received their vaccines, deworming, heartworm test and spay/neuter surgery.
