Busy Brutus

Update from Foster Mom

Brutus is far more relaxed now.  He has mastered basic commands (sit, stay, come, out & off  ...  well, he's better with the "come" command when he's indoors).  He is now amazingly good with other dogs.  His people skills have improved dramatically too.   He is NEVER aggressve and he rarely barks anymore.  It has taken a couple of months but Brutus has pretty well recovered from his lack of social training.  He is now a pleasure to have in the house.

Busy Brutus was crated as a puppy because his owner was told it would be the easiest way to keep him from chewing up the house.  Brutus didn't chew up the house but he also didn't develop any social skills.  Not surprisingly, they don't want him anymore.

Brutus is overly excited to be with people so he needs someone who is experienced with dogs and can help him feel secure and important.   Therein lies the problem.  Most experienced and compassionate dog people already have pets and Brutus is not good with other animals.  After all, he grew up in a void with no exposure and no opportunity to develop any familiarity.  He is a sensitive and smart dog with the ability to learn quickly but he needs to start off as an only pet.  Brutus has already shown great improvement in the short time he has been at our Adoption Center.
